Community Health

Community Health involves monitoring, investigating, and responding to disease reporting in our community by physicians and state laboratories. This helps us track trends and potential impact. The health department provides outreach, education and health promotion. This page is a resource for various topics and programs in community public health.

Tip to Prevent Falls

  • Childhood Lead Poisoning Prevention

Lead Poisoning Prevention Program works closely with CT Department of Public Health (DPH) to investigate and determine the source of a pediatric lead poisoning.  Monroe Health Department has certified lead inspectors and risk assessors to review pediatric blood lead testing results,  conducts inspections, perform home visits, provide educational materials and send follow-up blood testing reminders to parents. They also consult with parents and make sure the lead hazard is abated or controlled. We enforce the CT Lead Poisoning and Prevention Regulations
