Requirements
Applicants 18 years of age or over do not require parental consent to marry in Connecticut.
Both parties to be married MUST appear together and in person.
An appointment is required. Please visit monroect.gov and under News and Announcements (homepage) you can book an appointment.
Time Limitations
Marriage License:
The license is valid for sixty-five days from the date of application.
Fee
The charge is $50.00 (cash or check made out to the Town of Monroe, CT). Should you wish to have a certified copy of your marriage license sent to you once our office receives it back from the officiator, the additional cost will be $20.00.
Where to obtain your license
If the ceremony is to be performed in Monroe, you MUST obtain your marriage license in the Monroe Town Clerk's office.
Marriage Licenses are issued from 8:30 am to 4:00 pm Monday thru Thursday and from 8:30 am to 1:00 pm on Friday.
